Time and space are modes by which we think and not conditions in which we live.

Every Lament is a Love Song

My fiancé and partner of 6 years is smiling. Her pursed lips lift at the sides but her eyes say it all: I love you. I feel her soft, delicate skin tingles beneath my fingers as I run them slowly down her bare back. She is smiling.
She is dying. These last few hours are the worst. We know it will happen. I know it today and I knew it 2 years ago when I asked her to marry me.
Her smile never leaves. Her memory never fades. Her love never dies.

The flowers cut and brought inside
Black cars in a single line
Your family in suits and ties
And you’re free

The ache I feel inside
Is where the life has left your eyes
I’m alone for our last goodbye
But you’re free

I remember you like yesterday
Yesterday
I still can’t believe you’re gone
Oh I remember you like yesterday
Yesterday
And until I’m with you, I carry on

Adrift on your ocean floor
I feel weightless numb and sore
A part of you and me is torn
You’re free

I woke from a dream last night
I dreamt that you were by my side
Reminding me I still had life
In me

I remember you like yesterday
Yesterday
I still can’t believe you’re gone
Oh I remember you like yesterday
Yesterday
And until I’m with you, I carry on

I’ll carry on, I’ll carry on

Every lament is a love song
Yesterday, yesterday
I still can’t believe you’re gone

Every lament is a love song
Yesterday, yesterday
So long my friend, so long

Goodbyes are meant for lonely people standing in the rain, and no matter where I go it’s pouring all the same.
These streets are filled with memories both perfect and in pain, but I’m the only one to blame.

These days aren’t easy as they have been once before.
These days aren’t easy anymore.
